(December 4 – 11:40 ET) – Royal Bank Action Direct is appointing of Doce Tomic as president and CEO. Tomic succeeds Mike Bastian who is retiring after 39 years in financial services.
Tomic, 35, was most recently vice president, Royal Bank Action Direct in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Prior to joining Action Direct, he was with RBC Dominion Securities’ Private Client Division, as an investment advisor and manager from 1989 until 1999.
A native of Vancouver, Tomic began his career in the financial services industry in 1988 as a client account coordinator. He relocated to Toronto in January 2000 and was appointed a director of Royal Investment Services in 2000.
“Under Doce’s leadership, Action Direct will continue its quest to become Canada’s premier direct investment services provider,” said Bill Hatanaka, chief operating officer, Royal Investment Services, Royal Bank’s wealth management division.
“Over the past year Action Direct has made significant strides to enhance service and provide access to expanded research and investment tools through its state of the art web site. In the year ahead we expect Doce to further those initiatives by including new products and services, and around-the-clock trading,” added Hatanaka.
