(September 27 – 12:30 ET) – Sunetco Investment Services Inc., the mutual fund dealer and Quebec insurance distributor owned by Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, has changed its name to Sun Life Financial Advisory Services Inc. The company says change aligns it more closely with Sun Life Financial, and reinforces the parent company as an industry leader in wealth management.

“In replacing ‘Sunetco’ with ‘Sun Life Financial’, we are replacing a lesser known brand with one that is swiftly becoming recognized by most of the Canadian population,” says Marcel Gingras, executive vice president, Canadian operations for Sun Life Financial and Chairman of Sun Life Financial Advisory Services.

“The inclusion of the words ‘Advisory Services’ positions the Sunetco organization as a service group whose mandate is to support the continued development of Sun Life Financial advisory channels. In the coming months, the company will adopt a new look by featuring the Sun Life Financial brand,” says Barry Gagnon, president, Sun Life Financial Advisory Services.

Sun Life Financial Advisory Services has assets under administration totalling $4.2 billion as of August 31. The company has 950 dual- licensed (insurance and mutual fund) advisors located in communities across Canada.
