(October 4 – 12:00 ET) – Intuit Canada is acquiring GreenPoint Software. The companies say the deal allows Intuit to offer the most comprehensive products to professional tax preparers and gives Calgary-based GreenPoint access to greater resources and a more extensive market.

GreenPoint co-founders Cameron Peters and Stephen King will be heading up Intuit’s professional tax software business. Employees of Intuit and GreenPoint have all been retained in the acquisition. The professional tax business is moving to larger premises and adding staff.

“Our goal has always been to provide the best tools for tax professionals,” says Bruce Johnson, general manager of Intuit Canada. “By combining experience, resources and technologies, we easily provide the best solution for tax professionals.”

“I’m also really excited,” he added, “that this acquisition enables us to provide financial planning software for professionals. We feel GreenPoint’s Profile FP software is the best in the industry.”

The company is inviting customers to information and training sessions across the country to ensure they’re able to get the most out of the product for their own businesses and the benefit of their own customers. Specific product details and pricing will be released in the coming weeks.
