Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Paul Philip has joined PWL Capital Inc. as a senior wealth advisor, leaving Worldsource Securities Inc. after more than 30 years. He brings his team at Financial Wealth Builders, including wealth advisor Jesse Clayton.
  • Brent Gillis has joined Harbourfront Wealth Management as vice-president, operations, moving from the same role at Nicola Wealth. Before joining that firm five years ago as director of clients services, Gillis spent nearly a decade at Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group in retail portfolio operations roles, including as principal and head of the division.
  • Josh Makuch has been named vice-president of business strategy, analytics and growth at Richardson Wealth. Makuch moves from iA Financial Group after six years with the firm, including his most recent role as a senior business advisor in iA Auto Finance.  He also served in senior roles with Investia Financial Services and iA Wealth.
  • Jason Lemire has been named chief investment officer at Bold Wealth Partners. He joined the firm last May as head of portfolio management and trading. He was previously an associate portfolio manager at CIBC Asset Management, and before that spent 16 years with Caisse dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) in various roles, including senior analyst, alternative indexing.
  • David Kulig has joined Manulife Investments as district vice-president of sales. Culig was vice-president of business development at Dynamic Funds for more than 20 years.
  • Julia Lau has been named vice-president of trading and operations at Evolve ETFs. Lau was previously a trader at iA Clarington Investments, then spent nine years with iA Global Asset Management as a senior equities trading analyst. She also has experience as an analyst in Questrade Financial Group’s trade conduct compliance department.
  •  Mark Bodnar has been promoted to vice-president at Guardian Capital Advisors, in addition to portfolio manager. He joined the firm in 2017 after nearly a decade with RBC Dominion Securities, primarily as an associate advisor.
  • Rebecca Mooney is now global head of digital marketing at Manulife, expanding her responsibilities as global head of brand and marketing for Manulife Wealth and Asset Management. She has more than 20 years of marketing and communications experience in the financial services sector, and before joining Manulife in 2021, Mooney served in senior marketing roles at Vanguard Investments Canada Inc. and RBC Wealth Management.
  • Marcia Moffat has been appointed to the board of directors at Sun Life, bringing three decades of experience in asset management, along with retail and investment banking. Moffat was country head at BlackRock Canada for a decade, and previously spent 12 years with RBC in various roles, including head of home equity financing.
  • Pat Dunwoody has been appointed to the Canadian Securities Administrators’ Investor Advisory Panel. She has more than 25 years of financial services sector experience, including as a former executive director of the Canadian ETF Association, where she spent more than a decade, and as principal of her own consulting business. She’s also currently a board member of FAIR Canada.
