Paul Rochon, currently Deputy Minister for International Development, becomes Deputy Minister of Finance, effective April 21, 2014.

The change was announced Friday by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, along with other changes in the senior ranks of the public service.

Harper took the opportunity to congratulate Michael Horgan, Deputy Minister of Finance, who will be retiring.

In a statement, Harper expressed his “gratitude to Horgan for his outstanding contributions over a very distinguished 35-year career.”

Prior to his position in International Development, Rochon was Associate Deputy Minister of Finance from 2010 to 2012.
