State Street Corp. announced today the opening of its newest facility in downtown Toronto.

The State Street Financial Centre, located at 30 Adelaide St. E., will serve as the company’s Canadian headquarters and will house more than 600 State Street employees, as well as 450 IFDS-Canada employees, State Street’s shareholder services joint venture with DST Systems.

“Since opening its office in Toronto in 1990 and in Montreal in 1991, State Street’s workforce has grown exponentially from 10 employees to more than 700 people serving over 100 clients,” says John Towers, vice chairman of State Street, who hosted today’s building opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. “We look forward to expanding our presence and supporting the Canadian investment community for many years to come.”

The State Street suite of investment services includes global and domestic custody, fund accounting and valuation, securities lending, foreign exchange, transition management and trading services.

In addition to the Toronto facility, the firm also has offices in Montreal and Vancouver, employing more than 700 employees in total.

The firm’s Canadian clients include Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, Assante and Schroders Investment Management North America Ltd., among others.”
