  • BMO Global Asset Management (BMO GAM) brought on a new global equity team this week, adding to a host of recent hires as its Canadian business grows. The 13-member Toronto-based team came from CI Financial Corp. where they collectively managed $20 billion in assets, a release from BMO said. The team covers areas such as health care, technology, financials, and energy and resources. Most members had been with CI Financial for 10 years or more, according to LinkedIn. The team moving to BMO consists of Jeff Elliot, Malcolm White, Jeremy Yeung, John Hadwen, Massimo Bonansinga, Hoa Hong, Goshen Benzaquen, Kyle Mendyk, Janice Wong, Alex Yang, Alexander Payne, Shawna McIntee and Edward-Durrant Taylor.
  • Susan Copland has joined Raymond James Ltd. as senior privacy advisor, compliance, in Vancouver. She noted in a LinkedIn post that she’s consulting on a regulatory reform project. Copland spent 15 years as a managing director with the Investment Industry Association of Canada.
  • A team of four from British Columbia under the Catalyst Wealth Partners banner has joined Wellington-Altus Private Wealth Inc. in Vancouver. The team includes Catalyst founding partners and senior wealth advisors Phil Bourque and Trevor Gatson, as well as senior investment associate Heather Desaulniers and investment associate Morgan Proulx.
  • Citi Commercial Bank, part of New York-based Citigroup Inc., has launched in Canada with Casey Coates as head of commercial banking Canada. Coates joined the firm in April, coming from HSBC where he worked for more than a decade.
