Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Derek Perritt was recently named vice-president of wealth planning and solutions within Richardson Wealth Ltd.’s wealth strategies group. He comes from TD Private Wealth where he was regional manager, wealth advisory services, a release said. He’ll leverage several decades of experience and knowledge of the high-net-worth market, focusing in his new role on leading Richardson Wealth’s insurance and tax and estate planning teams that work with advisors. Dave Kelly, chief operating officer with Richardson Wealth since January, said in the release that he worked with Perritt while they both were with TD.
  • Nadine Renaud-Tinker will become national head of career sales force with Royal Bank of Canada in July, taking over from Matt Varey who’s retiring, she said in an announcement online. She’s worked with RBC for 25 years, most recently in the role of regional president for Quebec for six years. Her successor has yet to be announced, she said.
  • Peter Simmie is now a partner and shareholder with Toronto-based asset manager Honeytree Investment Management. Paula Glick — one of the two women who co-founded the firm in 2018 (registration with the Ontario Securities Commission was granted in May 2019) — said in a release that Simmie is knowledgeable about public and private financial markets as well as quantamental portfolio management. During his several decades working in financial services, he co-founded and helped grow Bristol Gate Capital Partners Inc. (also based in Toronto), from which he formally retired in 2019.
  • William Mason, executive vice-president and chief risk officer (CRO) with Laurentian Bank, is retiring. He’ll remain with the bank as a special advisor to the CEO, board and new CRO until the end of the fiscal year, but the new CRO will take over June 17. Joining the bank as CRO is Christian De Broux, marking a return after he previously worked with Laurentian between 2013 and 2020.
  • Shubha Khan became senior vice-president and head of investor relations with Great-West Lifeco on Monday. He’s based in Toronto and worked previously with Intact Financial Corp. His equity research and investor relations career began more than 15 years ago.
