Merrill Lynch HSBC Canada Inc. has announced the launch of its Chinese language marketing and trading web site.

“Our Chinese language site is designed to give clients the ability to invest more easily in the language they prefer,” says president and CEO, Peter Hickman. “We are always looking for new ways to improve client experience and to expand client choice. Our Chinese language site offers both of these benefits.”

The Chinese web site announcement kicks off with a multi-media campaign in the Chinese media — print, radio and online — that invites prospects to go to mlhsbc.ca/chinese to open a new account and be eligible for a month’s free trading.

MLHSBC is the only online direct investing company in Canada that offers real time online trading on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. It offers unlimited, free real time quotes for North American markets, the United Kingdon and Hong Kong and access to research from HSBC and Merrill Lynch analysts, stock reports from Standard & Poor’s, and Argus research.

It is also rolling out several new online features, among them: option chains for U.S. and Canadian equity symbols, enhanced Canadian news search and news headlines, access to trading of Canadian mutual funds directly from a Morningstar Snapshot page

“A key feature of the Chinese site is the ability of clients to transact in Chinese,” says chief marketing officer, Chantal Walker. “This is a real convenience to clients who can do all their business in one place — from reading research reports to checking their Stock Watch List to trading.”
