Qunara Inc. has been selected by FundSERV Inc to assist in delivering secure business-to-business internet communications to Canadian mutual fund companies and investment advisors. For the FundSERV project, Qunara has aligned itself with its longstanding partner, Entrust, Inc. to deliver one of the first industry-wide public key infrastructure (PKI) implementations in North America.

Qunara’s IT Security Solutions team provided a complete solution to FundSERV including planning and design services, professional services, PKI implementation and deployment, training and support services. The FundSERV PKI will be used to issue medium-assurance digital certificates to investment advisors across Canada.

These certificates, says FundSERV, are the electronic equivalent of a person’s passport and will be used to access FundSERV’s web portal service to the fund company web sites. They will also provide secure desktop and e-mail services to the investment advisor and mutual fund company communities.

To fulfill its mission to maximize the efficiency of the Canadian investment fund industry, FundSERV has through the years spearheaded the development of one of the most efficient fund transaction processing systems in the world.

The IDentity project is a comprehensive program to improve the level of user authentication, personalization and security of access to fund company sites over the Internet. Through IDentity, each Investment Advisor is issued a digital certificate, which provides single login capabilities through the FundSERV web portal to the web services provided by the individual mutual fund companies.

The fund companies should benefit from strong authentication, significantly reduced administration and the ability to offer access to more information over the Internet.
