Dynamic Mutual Funds Ltd. has launched the Dynamic Equity Hedge Fund. Dynamic says the fund will allow individual investors to benefit from hedge fund investing.

The fund will be managed by Dynamic Mutual Funds with the guidance of one of North America’s leading investment managers, U.S.-based Orbital Management.

According to Dynamic, the fund will maintain both long and short stock positions. It says short selling can help control volatility and mitigate risk by reducing net exposure to the market.

“In an era marked by increasingly unpredictable financial markets, an investment vehicle that helps investors to reach their financial goals — with reduced discomfort along the way — can be a powerful addition to any portfolio,” says Jonathan Goodman, president of Dynamic Mutual Funds Ltd.

The fund will receive guidance from Morton Cohen, Orbital Capital’s chairman and CEO since 1984. “I am very excited to be working with Dynamic to bring this type of alternative investment to Canadians,” says Cohen.

Orbital Management is the investment management arm of the Clarion Group, manager of The Clarion Hedge Funds, which include Clarion Partners L.P. and Clarion Offshore Fund Ltd.

The fund will be sold through private placement by Offering Memorandum with a minimum investment of $150,000.
