Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada will buy the Canadian voluntary benefits business of StanCorp Financial Group Inc., the insurer announced.

Blue Cross expects the transaction to close later this year, it said in a release. “This acquisition further reinforces Blue Cross Life’s role in the Canadian workplace life benefits landscape, with voluntary benefits as a key component of its national growth strategy.”

StanCorp bought the book of business from Allstate Corporation in 2025. It will continue to be marketed under the Allstate brand.

Toronto-based private equity firm Georgian will get a US$100 million investment from Navigator Global Investments Ltd for 4.5% of Georgian’s equity, the firm announced Monday.

Georgian invests in growth-stage business software companies and has an in-house AI lab with 20 experts to make proprietary tools. Georgian will use Navigator’s investment as future funds and a small portion of growth initiatives.

FTSE Russell will use CanDeal DNA’s fixed income pricing in FTSE Canada indices for another decade, the financial market data company said in a release.

The new arrangement expands into additional data, index and portfolio analytics. It includes FTSE’s additional use of CanDeal DNA Security Master and CanDeal DNA Trademarks.

BKR Capital made the $20 million first close of its second venture capital fund, Black Innovation Fund II.

It targets investing $50 million to Black-led technology companies. Institutional investors include RBC, BDC, Boann Social Impact Fund, Cap Finance Social Finance Fund, and EDC.

BKR’s Fund I invested in 15 technology companies.

Chicago-headquartered Coeur Mining Inc. completed its acquisition of Canadian mining company New Gold Inc., as previously announced in November 2025.

Coeur’s shares started trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “CDE” on March 16.

New Gold Inc. runs the New Afton gold-copper mine in B.C. and Rainy River gold-silver mine in Ontario.
