Amex Bank of Canada today said it is not affected by news that American Express has agreed to sell its international banking subsidiary American Express Bank Ltd to Standard Chartered Bank.

American Express in Canada operates as Amex Bank of Canada and Amex
Canada Inc., wholly-owned units of American Express Travel.

“The sale of AEB will not include any of Amex’s card or travel businesses internationally, nor international financial services businesses that operate separately from AEB,” it said in a press release.
