AGF Management Ltd. has appointed former Merrill Lynch & Co. executive Winthrop Smith, Jr. to its board.
Smith was formerly executive vice president of Merrill Lynch, chairman of Merrill Lynch International, director of Merrill Lynch Canada, and president of the International Private Client Group, based in New York. Smith holds a BA from Amherst College and an MBA from the Wharton School. He first joined Merrill Lynch in 1974 as an associate in the investment banking division.
Smith is also a director of the Economic Club of New York, the Japan Society and the Americas Society, and has previously served on the boards of the New York City Ballet, Outward Bound USA, the Foreign Policy Association and the Cancer Research Institute. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
