The Bank of Canada named Agathe Côté as a deputy governor, effective July 30.
The central bank said Tuesday that Côté will join its governing council and share responsibility with deputy governor Tim Lane for overseeing the bank’s financial system activities.
The appointment will fill the vacancy that will be created by the retirement of Pierre Duguay on July 29.
Côté joined the bank in 1982 as an economist in the international department and held a number of roles before being appointed advis0r to the governor in August 2008.
