George Brown College has been awarded the right to grant an applied business degree by Ontario’s Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. The Toronto college will begin accepting students into the new four-year Bachelor of Applied Business (Financial Services) program in September 2003.

The B.A.B. (Financial Services) responds to the changing skills and knowledge requirements of financial services employers — Toronto’s largest employer group. The degree will prepare students for professional careers as accountants, financial planners and financial service managers and administrators.

“This degree status strengthens George Brown’s position as the school of choice for financial services education,” said Paul Carder, Dean of George Brown’s Faculty of Business and Creative Arts. “It’s natural for us to consider the B.A.B. as part of the programs we offer through our Centre for Financial Services Education. It will ensure our graduates are in high demand for possessing the skills, credentials and experience required for success in the largest and fastest growing career sectors in Toronto’s economy.”
