(October 2 – 10:15 ET) – Ernst & Young is launching EY Online Advisor in Canada, to provide online tax advice.
EY Online Advisor is a service for clients looking for answers to relatively straightforward tax questions. For a capped fee, an Ernst & Young subject-matter specialist researches, analyzes and prepares a written response to tax questions submitted in a secure environment over the Internet. There are two tiers of response time: a standard service of three to four business days; and express service of one or two days.
The project began as an internal system in June. It is a global initiative of Ernst & Young, and is expanding to other countries on a continuing basis. But its global nature means that Canadian clients can receive online tax advice not only from Canadian tax specialists, but also from tax specialists in 11 other countries around the world: the U.S., U.K., Australia, Japan, Spain, Brazil, Netherlands, France, Russia, Italy and Singapore.
The firm says the new service is its response to increasing demand from business to provide “speed-to-market” on a global basis. “EY Online Advisor is one of the strongest examples of where Ernst & Young is heading as a professional services firm,” says Michel Lanteigne, managing Partner, Tax. “Ernst & Young is recognized as the top professional services firm in Canada for tax advisory services. EY Online Advisor is a natural extension of our reputation for delivering fast, efficient and, above all, leading tax advice.”
