The Standard Life Assurance Co. of Canada today announced the appointment of Bill Black to the position of director of the board. Black has also been appointed director of Standard Life Trust Co.

Black has considerable experience in the Canadian financial services industry. Until recently, he held the position of president and CEO of Maritime Life.

Black is also a leading member of the community. He currently sits on the boards of Symphony Nova Scotia, The Canadian Center for Ethics in Public Affairs and Dalhousie University.

Black’s expertise will undoubtedly be a valuable asset for Standard Life, the company stated.
