- Kartik Kaushik has been appointed head, global transaction banking, product, platforms and solutions at RBC and Michael Klopchic has been named head, global transaction banking, client coverage. They will report to the co-heads of the bank’s new global transaction banking business — Sean Amato-Gauci and Derek Neldner.
- William John is now chief investment officer (CIO) at Nicola Wealth after serving for a year as deputy CIO. He succeeds the firm’s founder John Nicola. Nicola will continue as executive chair and as a wealth advisor. His son Chris Nicola, took over as CEO earlier this year.
- Chris Tassone has been appointed managing director of tax liability insurance and risk capability for North America with HUB International Holdings, Inc. He was previously a partner in the tax practice group at law firm Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, joining the transactional risk group. Sarah Thompson has been named national real estate practice leader for Canada. She joined HUB in 2012 as an underwriting manager and has served in various roles since then, including VP, marketing and real estate, and most recently, chief marketing officer.
- Beau Howes has joined Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel Ltd.’s private client & foundations team. He brings more than 25 years of industry experience, including working with private clients and foundations. He spent more than 23 years with Jarislowky, Fraser Ltd., becoming a parter in 2013. His last role there was as senior private wealth portfolio manager.
- Ralph Hamers has joined Scotiabank’s board of directors. The banking industry veteran served in various roles at ING over three decades, including CEO for seven years, and later served as group CEO of UBS Group AG.
