Unemployment remained stable at low levels in 2024, according to new data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The Paris-based group reported that the jobless rate was unchanged at 4.9% in December, and recorded that same rate for 2024 overall.
Unemployment rates were unchanged in 19 OECD countries in December, while rates rose in seven countries, and dropped in six countries, the OECD said.
Across the European Union, the jobless rate was stable at 5.9% in December, as rates ticked up in Italy and Austria, declined in three countries, and stayed flat in the other 12 countries that make up the Euro area.
More recent data for Canada and the U.S. also showed that unemployment rates were flat in January, it noted.
