Monique Leroux, former president of Lévis, Que.-based Desjardins Group, will be inducted along with three other business leaders into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame.

In recognition and celebration of their lifetime achievements, the four will be welcomed as Companions of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame by Chancellor David Denison during a gala dinner and ceremony taking place tonight in Toronto.

Each year business leaders across Canada celebrate and honour the most distinguished leaders across all areas of business for their contributions to the economy and Canadian society.

In addition to Leroux, chairwoman of the board of Investissement Quebec and vice chairwoman of Montreal-based Fiera Holdings Inc, the other inductees are:

  • George Cope, president and CEO of BCE Inc. and Bell Canada
  • Robert J. Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Aviation Holdings Inc. and Porter Airlines Inc.
  • Ian Telfer, chairman at Goldcorp Inc.

“The individuals being recognized have demonstrated exceptional leadership, ethics and dedication throughout their careers,” says Denison. “We are pleased to welcome them to the Business Hall of Fame and to celebrate their contributions not only in the world of business but to Canada as a whole.”

Proceeds from tonight’s fortieth annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony help Toronto-based youth organization JA Canada meet the demand for financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs for Canadian students.
