Horizons ETFs has named a new CEO.

Rohit Mehta will become president and CEO of Toronto-based Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. on May 1, succeeding interim CEO Jasmit Bhandal.

Bhandal was appointed interim CEO in November following the abrupt retirement of Steve Hawkins, who was Horizons’ president and CEO for seven years and had spent 15 years with the company.

Bhandal has been chief operating officer since October 2021 and will continue in that role.

Mehta joins Horizons from Toronto-based Guardian Capital LP, where he has been senior vice-president and head of distribution, Guardian Retail Asset Management, since April 2020. Prior to that, he was an executive vice-president with CI Financial Corp. and president of First Asset Capital Corp., which was purchased by CI in 2015.

“Rohit brings extensive and diverse experience in the investment fund, wealth and asset management sectors, as well as a record of demonstrated success to Horizons ETFs,” said Thomas Park, director of Horizons ETFs and co-CEO of Mirae Asset Global Investments (USA), Horizons’ parent company, in a statement.
