Certified financial planner Brett Millard of Kelowna has been appointed chair of FP Canada’s board of directors for 2019/2020.

Millard succeeds Dan Busi of Calgary as chair. Busi will continue to serve on the board for the final year of his term.

“I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to pick up where Dan left off as chair, and I look forward to working with Cary List, president and CEO of FP Canada, in continuing to lead the advancement of professional financial planning in Canada,” Millard said in a statement.

FP Canada — formerly known as the Financial Planning Standards Council — also announced its other board appointees on Wednesday.

Martin Dupras, based in Montreal, will serve as vice chair. Dupras is a past chair of the board of the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF).

Carolyn Fallis and Yves Giroux, both based in Toronto, have joined the board as new directors. Fallis is an FP Canada fellow, and Giroux is also a past chair of the IQPF board of directors.

François Durocher, Ronald Harvey, David Wild, Pat Macdonald and Peter Shena will all continue their terms as directors. Gena Katz and Caroline Dabu are both leaving the board after serving as directors for six and four years, respectively.
