Toronto-based BMO Capital Markets announced Thursday that it has hired former parliamentarian Scott Brison as vice-chair, investment and corporate banking.
Brison’s main responsibilities will include senior client coverage and business development. He will report to Peter Myers, global head of investment and corporate banking.
“Scott’s tenure in the Canadian government, combined with his deep knowledge of global economic issues and his experience in the private sector as an entrepreneur and investment banker, make him a valued addition to our firm,” Myers says in a statement.
Brison was elected MP for Kings–Hants (Nova Scotia) seven times, and worked in government for over 20 years. First elected in 1997, he has served as president of the Treasury Board, as well as minister of digital government from 2015 to 2019. He was the minister of public works and government services from 2004 to 2006 and served as parliamentary secretary to the prime minister from 2003 to 2004.
Brison will be based in Toronto.
