Cynthia Bertolin and Gordon J. Feeney have been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Business Development Bank of Canada.
Feeney has spent his entire career in the banking industry. He has had senior positions with the Royal Bank, becoming deputy-chairman in February 1999. Feeney retired June 30, 2001. Feeney is the chairman of Royal Mutual Funds Inc., Moneris Solutions Corporation, the Public Policy Forum, the Canadian Business Hall of Fame
Foundation and the Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation.
He also holds the post of vice-chairman for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He is the director
of RBC Insurance Holdings (U.S.A.) Inc., Royal Trust, RBC Trust Co. (Bahamas) Ltd., Finance Corporation of Bahamas, Synergy Asset Management Inc., International Survey Research Group, the American Management Association and the Canadian Banking Ombudsman.
Bertolin has been involved financing the needs of entrepreneurs from the aboriginal community for many years. Since 1993, she has been a director for one of the top aboriginal capital corporations in Canada, Apeetagosan Metis Development Inc. Apeetagosan is an Alberta Aboriginal capital corporation that is responsible for lending money, administering Aboriginal Business Development Grants, and providing small
business micro-loans and high-risk equity financing for Metis and non-status
Indian entrepreneurs and businesses.
