(June 7) – The TSE has ended alliance talks with NASDAQ in the wake of its involvement with a global market alliance and ongoing talks with the NYSE.

As recently as a couple of weeks ago TSE president and CEO Barbara Stymiest said the TSE was still in talks with both NASDAQ and the NYSE, even after NASDAQ announced its deal with the Quebec provincial government to develop NASDAQ Canada. Today she is confirming that discussions with NASDAQ have been abandoned.

So far there are no further details on a possible deal with the NYSE. Discussions for a global alliance remain preliminary too, there is no actual agreement yet. The TSE confirms that it is still talking to the CDNX about developing a common trading platform for Canadian small- and large-caps.
