(June 2 – 10:50 ET) – More than 300 people will be taking pledges at Scotiabank’s Toronto call centre for this year’s Hospital for Sick Kids Telethon on June 3 and 4. The call centre is expected to handle more than 6,000 calls during the telethon.
“Scotiabank’s call centre is an integral part of our telethon, supplying the phones and technological support we need to make this year’s telethon work,” said Bonnie B. Good, senior director, community development and relations, Hospital for Sick Children. “Just as important, however, are the more than 200 Scotiabank volunteers, who will be giving up part of their weekend to help to answer the phones. It is their dedication, and the dedication of our other volunteers, that will make this years’ telethon a success.”
This is the second year that Scotiabank has donated the use of its call centre to Sick Kids. The bank will dedicate 85 telephone work stations to take pledges.
“Scotiabank’s call centres have some of the most advanced technology and facilities available and it’s great to use it in support of such a good cause,” said Mike Hayes, senior vice president, electronic banking call centres, Scotiabank.
The donation of the call centre facilities for the weekend is valued at $60,000.
