Pacific International Securities Inc has expanded its Capital Markets and Private Client Services divisions with four senior appointments.
Bernie Lyons has been appointed vice president of Private Client Services and will work with PI’s senior management team and its 70 investment advisors to develop and grow the Private Client Services business.
Lyons graduated with a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University in 1987. He launched his investment industry career as an investment advisor with Scotia Bond, which was acquired by Midland Walwyn and subsequently by Merrill Lynch (Canada) who appointed Lyons to regional complex sales manager. He later joined HSBC Securities (Canada) as a district executive and vice president.
In the Capital Markets division, PI has added three senior professionals to its institutional equity team as part of its long-term strategy of building the firm into a leading western-based institutional research and investment bank. The division has grown significantly over the past few years and now represents over half of PI’s overall revenues.
Michael Gray will cover western-based junior mining companies as a mining analyst. With over 20 years of mining industry experience, Gray has a strong background in base and precious metal mineral exploration. His industry experience ranges from project geologist to vp exploration to CFO.
He has a Masters of Science Degree in Economic Geology and is a member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C.
Philip Tulk joins PI as a senior research analyst, covering industrial products and transportation companies. With over 10 years experience as a research analyst, Tulk has been a top rated transportation and conglomerates analyst with Lehman Brothers, HSBC and DBS Securities. His educational background includes a Degree in Mathematics and an MBA and he is a Level 3 CFA candidate.
John Henderson joins PI’s Institutional Sales team and will cover Canadian and U.S. institutional clients. For the past 14 years, Henderson has held varied and progressive roles in the life sciences industry. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Biochemistry and Economics, a Masters in Biochemistry, a MBA (University of B.C.) and he is a CFP.
In making the announcements, Bert Quattrociocchi, executive vp, noted that PI is continuing to build its team of professionals with these senior appointments. “Each of the three individuals brings a significant level of experience and insight and builds on our expertise in the mining,” he said.
