(February 22 – 10:05 ET) – The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions has announced a series of appointments.
Julie Dickson has been named assistant superintendent regulation sector. She joined OSFI on April 1, 1999, after stints in the Department of Finance, the Privy Council Office and public affairs consulting.
Michael Hafeman has joined OSFI as assistant superintendent specialist support sector. He comes to OSFI from the world of pension and benefits consulting. He also has an extensive background in the insurance business. From September 1998 to August 1999, he also served as acting chief actuary. Jean-Claude Ménard replaced him as the actual chief actuary.
“These senior appointments will help OSFI to deal with the increased risks to the financial system that may occur as a result of globalization, increased structural flexibility, new and innovative products and proposed government measures to increase competition,” says OSFI superintendant, John Palmer. “With this new team in place, OSFI is in a stronger position to address the many challenges that will be caused by a rapidly changing financial services sector.”
