Toronto-based Sun Life Financial Inc. is now providing a personalized wellness rewards program to its clients through Oakville Ont.-based BestLifeRewarded Innovations, the insurer announced Wednesday.

The program merges health-and-fitness tracking with tools to monitor household budgets and retirement savings, and gives users rewards points from popular Canadian retailers when they make healthy choices.

“Whether your goal is to attend a yoga class twice a week, or top up that RRSP, the BestLifeRewarded platform tracks, measures and rewards positive steps to reducing health risks and living a healthier life,” Sun Life says in a news release.

Clients will first complete a “holistic health assessment” that measures financial, physical and mental well-being. The platform then guides them on a “customized wellness journey,” which includes the ability to track wellness activities, including nutrition, sleep patterns and keeping on top of a budget.

Additionally, clients will receive access to online courses, articles and tips, and can set reminders for healthy behaviours.

“This platform brings clients a one-of-a-kind plan to motivate, support, and reward healthy actions. Creative experiences like BestLifeRewarded assist us on our journey of helping Canadians achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives,” says Jacques Goulet, president, Sun Life Financial Canada, in a statement.

“It’s a win-win when people can receive tangible rewards for taking action steps to improve their overall health and well-being,” says Susanne Cookson, co-founder of BestLifeRewarded Innovations, in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with Sun Life, helping plan members make sustainable behaviour changes while having fun doing it!”
