Financial planning software firm PlanPlus Inc. opened the second annual PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards opened for entries on June 1.

The competition brings industry recognition to three financial planners from around the world for what they have added to the profession.

Advisors from the Americas, Europe, and Asia are encouraged to showcase their best comprehensive financial plans, which must already have been presented to a client.

A panel of five different international judges from each region will adjudicate the entries. Judging will be based on a variety of criterion focusing on the benefits to the client as a result of the advisor’s recommendation.

This year the three winners will each receive an expense paid trip to FPA BE 2014 – Business and Education Annual Conference to be held in Seattle, from September 20 to 22.

The winners will be presented with their awards at a special ceremony.

“These awards are designed to recognize financial planners that have demonstrated excellence in all aspects of the engagement and to help raise awareness with the public and the industry at large on how financial planners provide amazing value to the clients they serve,” said Shawn Brayman, president of Lindsay, Ont.-based PlanPlus.

“The number of pre-registrations have already increased from 2013. This year, the majority so far are from the United States, with a few from both Asia and European countries. We encourage planners worldwide to enter the competition and share their expertise with the rest of the world before the July 15 closing date” said John Page, PlanPlus best practices expert.
