The Toronto-based Institute for Advanced Financial Education has launched of an online public registry of Institute designation holders.

The registry will allow clients and potential clients to check if their financial advisor holds the chartered life underwriter (CLU) or certified health insurance specialist (CHS) designations, and whether their advisor is in good standing with the Institute.

The public registry lists everyone who is currently authorized to use the CLU and/or CHS designation.

“The introduction of the online registry of CLUs and CHSs is a positive step forward for both designation holders and the public,” said Institute chairman Jim Virtue.

“The public can rest assured that any advisor who is listed on the annually updated online listing is keeping current with industry developments through the completion of the Institute’s continuing education requirements, and that he or she adheres to the Institute’s code of professional conduct.”
