Scotia Asset Management L.P. said Monday it has changed its name to 1832 Asset Management L.P., effective immediately.

The investment manager says the new name captures the spirit of Bank of Nova Scotia’s history, as 1832 is the year when the bank was founded.

The change is the first step towards creating a single legal entity that will house Scotiabank’s distinct asset management businesses, including ScotiaFunds.

1832 Asset Management L.P. is a limited partnership the general partner of which is wholly owned by Scotiabank and is a manager of mutual funds and investment solutions for private clients, institutional clients and managed asset programs.
