Deutsche Asset Management has appointed William Shiebler as CEO in the Americas.
Shiebler will report to Tom Hughes, president of Deutsche Asset Management. Shiebler will have overall responsibility for all aspects of asset management strategy and execution for the region, including the combined Deutsche Asset Management and Scudder Investments retail and institutional businesses. He will also join the Deutsche Asset Management Global Executive Committee.
Shiebler, 60, is the former president and CEO of Putnam Mutual Funds. Prior to joining Putnam, he spent 12 years at Dean Witter Reynolds, most recently as president and COO for that firm’s Mutual Fund Management division.
“I am extremely pleased that Bill will be joining our firm,” said Hughes. “His wealth of industry knowledge and experience will complement our leadership position both in the US and globally.”
“I am excited to take on the role of CEO for Deutsche Asset Management in the Americas. The firm has demonstrated a solid commitment not only to asset management but also to the Americas Region,” commented Shiebler. “The opportunities for growth for Deutsche Asset Management are extensive and I am proud to become part of the team that will make these opportunities a reality.”
