François Trahan has joined BMO Capital Markets as chief investment strategist, after the departure of Brian Belski in October. Originally from Quebec, but now based in New York City, Trahan has more than 25 years of macroeconomic and equity strategy experience. He’s also a co-founder of the Macro Institute, a study program which offers a Macro Specialist designation for financial professionals who want to better understand how macro trends impact equity markets and implement macro techniques in their investment analysis. He was previously a managing director at UBS, and a partner at Cornerstone Macro LLC.

In a post on LinkedIn, Alan Tannenbaum, CEO and group head at BMO Capital Markets, noted Trahan, a member of the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team Hall of Fame, “is widely recognized for his forward-thinking approach and deep insights into market dynamics.”

“His addition expands our equity research coverage and reinforces our commitment to delivering insightful research and actionable strategies. We look forward to François’ contributions and perspectives as we continue to advance our platform.”
