Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • CIBC has announced multiple executive changes, as Harry Culham moves into the president and CEO role Nov. 1:
    • Christian Exshaw will become senior executive vice-president and group head, capital markets, with accountability for capital markets globally.
    • Kevin Li will be appointed senior executive vice-president and group head, U.S. region, and president and CEO of CIBC Bank USA.
    • Christina Kramer will be named senior executive vice-president and chief administrative officer. She will continue to lead the technology, infrastructure and innovation group.
    • Hratch Panossian, senior executive vice-president and group head, personal and business banking, will add responsibility for contact centres and client marketing.
    • Susan Rimmer, senior executive vice-president and group head, commercial banking and wealth management, will add oversight of CIBC Caribbean.
    • Amy South will be appointed executive vice-president, Office of the CEO and chief of staff.
    • Stephen Scholtz will become global chief legal officer.
    • Shawn Beber, senior executive vice-president and group head, U.S. region, will retire on July 1, 2026, and be appointed a special advisor during the transition.
    • Kikelomo Lawal, executive vice-president and chief legal officer, will also retire.
  • The CFA Institute has appointed Mona Naqvi as managing director, research, advocacy and standards, effective Sept. 8. Naqvi will join the global leadership team and will oversee the CFA Institute Research and Policy Center.
  • T. Rowe Price has hired three executives in its insurance business. Mark Rose, CFA, joins as insurance solutions strategist in the fixed income division. And Chase Uhlein, CFA and Blayze Hanson, CFA join the Americas institutional business development team as senior insurance relationship managers.
  • The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions has appointed Luc Beaudoin as chief information security officer, effective Aug. 11. Beaudoin brings public- and private-sector experience in information technology, cyber security, strategic planning and cyber operations.
