The Exempt Market Dealers Association of Canada (EMDA) is rebranding itself as the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada (PCMA), the organization said Thursday.

The newly named PCMA says that its members believe that the new name, “better reflects our membership and our mandate, and will better capture the important role our members play in the capital markets.”

“We are delighted to unveil our new name and website that will be the foundation of our growth plans in the years ahead,” said Geoffrey Ritchie, executive director of the PCMA.

The organization says that in the year ahead, in addition to its advocacy work, its annual conference and awards program, it’s aiming to launch regional chapters across Canada. It will also unveil a redesigned Exempt Market Product (EMP) course in partnership with IFSE Institute.

The PCMA says it is “focused on strengthening and developing the private capital markets to ensure robust capital raising opportunities across Canada and ensure Canadian investors have access to diverse private market investment options.”
