Winnipeg-based Knowledge Bureau Inc. on Tuesday announced the 2017 winners of the Distinguished Advisor Conference (DAC) client innovation scholarship award and the young advisors award.

Doug Nelson, Canadian portfolio manager and 25 year veteran of the financial services industry, has been chosen as the winner of the scholarship award.

Joseph Alfie, Myriad Private Wealth/HollisWealth in Montreal, and Jonathan Earle, Bell Financial/Manulife Securities Inc. in Aurora, Ont., have each been selected to receive the young advisors award.

The recipients receive a scholarship to attend the DAC, in Kelowna, B.C., Nov. 5-8.

Nelson is the president of Nelson Financial Consultants, an independent financial advisory firm based in Winnipeg. He is also the author of Master Your Retirement, How to Fulfill Your Dreams with Peace of Mind, and a regular commentator on industry initiatives and an accomplished speaker at industry events.

Nelson will participate in a panel discussion at this year’s DAC to discuss client innovation as part of the conference theme, Financial Advice at the Crossroads of Change.
