BMO InvestorLine launched commission-free trading for more than 80 ETFs on Tuesday.

Self-directed investors have access to a variety of ETFs from BMO, iShares and Vanguard, including equities funds, fixed income, multi-asset ETFs, thematic funds and ESG funds.

“These no-commission-fee ETFs have been carefully selected from the largest three Canadian ETF providers, enabling self-directed investors to build well-diversified portfolios, which aligns with our mission to empower and inspire Canadians to invest smart,” Silvio Stroescu, head, InvestorLine, BMO Financial Group, said in a statement.

To qualify for commission-free trading, clients must hold an eligible ETF for a minimum of one day from the date of purchase, and cannot buy and sell — or sell and buy — the same ETF on the same day. Commission-free trading is not available for short-sell trades.

BMO has published the full list of commission-free ETFs, which will be reviewed periodically and is subject to change.
