Gregg Diliberto has been appointed global head of fixed income at HSBC Asset Management, the global investment management business of the HSBC Group. He joins HSBC on August 16.

Diliberto will be responsible for the management of fixed income teams comprising 70 investment professionals around the world managing around US$100 billion. He will be based in New York and will report to Chris Cheetham, global chief investment officer.

“We are delighted to have been able to appoint an investment professional with Gregg’s talent and considerable experience to the key role of global head of fixed income,” said Cheetham in a news release.

Diliberto has over 20 years of fixed income investment experience. His most recent position was head of fixed income for Citigroup Global Investments (CGI), the proprietary global investment arm of the bank. Diliberto joined CGI in 2002 and was responsible for US$90 billion of proprietary fixed income assets. He oversaw the investment activities of 70 investment professionals covering all fixed income specialisations. Diliberto also led the fixed income asset allocation process and was a member of the investment policy committee.

Between 1990 and 2002, Diliberto was managing director and head of core fixed income at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), which under his leadership achieved top consultant rankings. He began his fixed income investment career in 1984 at BEA Associates, which was bought by CSAM in 1990.
