(January 5) – Calgary’s Hi-Alta Capital Inc. has acquired Prairie Agencies Ltd., as part of its effort to expand its financial services offerings. Prairie Agencies is an insurance firm based in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

It has been around since the 1950s offering financial products and personal, agricultural and commercial insurance in southeast Saskatchewan. Ray Erickson, Prairie Agencies’ president, will remain with the firm.

No price was announced on the deal, which is scheduled to close in early January.
