Tom Gunn will retire as senior vice president, investments and CEO of the OMERS pension fund effective Oct 17, 2003. Paul Haggis, president and CEO, will assume the position of CIO on an interim basis, effective immediately.

“I want to thank Tom for his years of service to OMERS and for guiding the Fund through some of the most turbulent years in the history of the capital markets. Tom brought greater diversity to the OMERS portfolio including private equity and infrastructure investments and helped build one of the largest real estate portfolios in Canada,” said Haggis, in a news release. “He is ready to try something new and we wish him well in his future pursuits.”

“I feel I have done what I set out to do at OMERS and now is the time to turn over the senior investment function,” said Gunn.

OMERS is one of Canada’s largest pension funds.
