(January 4 – 11:45 ET) – U.S. President Bill Clinton has just nominated Alan Greenspan to another term at the helm of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board.

Clinton has been encouraged in recent days to make a move before Greenspan’s term expires this June. The Fed has played an influential role in the booming U.S. economy. Greenspan’s re-nomination is therefore expected to pass smoothly through the Senate. He has already served 12 years as chair of the Fed. This reappointment will give him another four.
