Robertson Stephens, a FleetBoston Financial company, intends to donate all revenue earned from its brokerage operations today to disaster relief organizations.
This move comes in addition to US$1 million that was donated by Fleet last week. Fleet expects that the funds will be donated to the American Red Cross, the New York City Public/Private Initiatives Fund, and the September 11th Fund. Contributions will also be used to help families of the victims.
As part of Fleet’s overall mobilization effort, Robertson Stephens is also working with local blood donation centers, collecting in-kind donations and providing volunteers to support the relief efforts.
Fleet has opened up its 1,700 branches as collection centers for donations to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. Since collections began, it has received US$1.5 million in contributions.
“Words can not begin to express the profound loss our employees, families and friends are feeling. The events of September 11 will impact everyone’s life for years to come,” said John Conlin, CEO. `”We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support by our employees and our communities to help those who need it. I am proud that we are doing what we can to provide some assistance for the thousands affected by last week’s events.”
