SoundView Technology Group Inc. has generated more than US$5 million from its initiative to donate all trading revenues and commissions earned on September 20 to the WTC relief efforts.
The money raised will be donated to several relief funds including the Keefe Bruyette & Woods Family Fund, the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, the New York Fire Fighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, and the WTC Police Disaster Relief Fund.
Mark Loehr, CEO of SoundView, said, “It was moving to see the total commitment of everyone involved. On behalf of over 200 institutions and corporations from across the United States and Europe, we executed over 100 million shares and generated over $6 million in commissions and trading revenues.”
After netting out clearing costs, SoundView expects to donate more than $5 million to relief funds. “It was gratifying,” Loehr continued, “for our 300 employees to be able to leverage their collective expertise into a meaningful contribution.”
“Special thanks go out to our many clients whose support made this possible. Additionally, we would like to recognize our friends at the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and multiple vendors who in the spirit of this initiative donated much of their services for the day.”
