(October 12 – 09:45 ET) – A new insurance company designed to serve the independent insurance broker is open for business this morning. Chieftain Insurance Co. of Toronto hits the streets with Henry Jackman at the controls as chairman.

Chieftain’s property and casualty insurance products will be sold exclusively by independent insurance brokers in Ontario, with the firm expanding to other parts of the country in the new year.

Jackman is joined by George Cooke as president and chief
executive.
