Women in Capital Markets (WCM) honoured three senior executives and a “rising star” at its annual awards luncheon in Toronto on Thursday.

The WCM Awards for Leadership pay tribute to individuals who combine professional excellence with a strong commitment toward advancing and championing women in capital markets.

Two women and one man have won the 2017 Award for Leadership:

> Harleen Bains, managing director and head of Canadian rates trading and sales with Toronto-based RBC Capital Markets;

> Susan Rimmer, managing director and head of global corporate banking with Toronto-based CIBC Capital Markets; and

> Duane Green, president and CEO, Toronto-based Franklin Templeton Investments Corp.

In addition, the 2017 WCM Rising Star Award was given to Priya Radha, director of rates trading and head of options trading with Toronto-based Bank of Nova Scotia’s global banking and markets division.

The winners were nominated based on an extensive set of criteria and then selected by a jury panel consisting of five senior leaders in the financial services sector.

“This year’s award recipients — Duane, Harleen, Susan and Priya — have all shown their commitment to advancing women in their organizations and in the industry more broadly,” says Jeannie Collins-Ardern, interim president and CEO of WCM, in a statement.

“These leaders know that the economy as a whole and capital markets in particular enjoy increased profitability, competitiveness and innovation when leadership teams include more diversity of all kinds,” she adds. “They have all demonstrated the integrity and courage to inspire change and the perseverance to make it happen.”
