Echelon Wealth Partners names Joe Oliver as chairman

Portfolio manager Lawrence Ullman announced on Monday that he has launched a new, independent private capital management firm, Ullman Wealth Management Inc. (UWM), based in in Toronto.

“We are very pleased to offer a unique and fresh approach to meeting the needs of high net-worth individuals and institutions,” says Ullman in a statement. “Our clients prioritize wealth preservation and the minimization of volatility, regardless of market conditions. Our open architecture platform allows us to develop an overall portfolio strategy based on the client’s objectives and then execute on that strategy.”

Ullman, a veteran portfolio manager, most recently managed portfolios for high net-worth clients, charities and institutions at Toronto-based Richardson GMP Ltd., a firm he joined in 2005. His team managed client portfolios with approximately $600 million in assets under management and $800 million in assets under advisement.

Prior to that, Ullman worked at RBC Dominion Securities Inc. from 1996 to 2005.

Also joining UWM are Craig McGee, a certified financial analyst and portfolio manager, and associates Jonathan Tang, Fernando Moleirinho, Erina Khalique and Elise Robinson.

UWM is a registered portfolio manager in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec and Alberta.
