Toronto-based TMX Group Ltd.’s chief financial officer, Michael Ptasznik, has resigned in order to take on the same role at New York-based Nasdaq Inc.

Frank DiLiso, vice president of corporate finance and administration with TMX Group, will act as interim CFO until a permanent successor is appointed, according to an announcement released on Friday.

Ptasznik joined TMX Group in 1996 as director of finance planning and analysis. He moved into the CFO role in 2000, where he led the company’s finance, corporate development and strategic planning functions.

“Michael has played a central role in navigating the company through many transformational events,” says Lou Eccleston, CEO of TMX Group in a statement.

These events include the demutualization of the company in 2000; the process to become a public company in 2002; and the merger with Montreal Exchange in 2008.

Ptasznik begins his new role at Nasdaq on July 11.
