Independent brokerage firm Salman Partners Inc. has added an executive to help lead its new foray into the retail market.

The Vancouver-based firm says Rahim Rajwani will join the firm as vice president of corporate development and managing partner on Oct. 27 to lead business development and risk mitigation for its new retail sales division. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Rajwani, who is returning to Salman, was previously chief compliance officer with Wolverton Securities Ltd.

The hiring follows Salman Partners’ acquisition of retail-focused firm, Woodstone Capital Inc., back in July, in a bid to create an integrated, full-service independent investment dealer. In addition to his duties on the retail side, Rajwani will also work with to further bolster the firm’s investment banking division, it says.

“With his unique background in recruiting, corporate finance and compliance, Rahim is a strong addition to Salman Partners,” said Terry Salman, CEO of the firm. “This is a very positive development in our strategic growth initiative.”
